Let's start things off with a simple Bijou tile, featuring Cadent.
I'm teaching Cadent to my students at the moment. And before this, I had completely forgotten how much I love Cadent. So many possibilities with it! This tile was real fun to do. |
My sketchbook page for Diva's ("Ing") and Joey's ("Finish My Tile #2) challenges.
There's Meer wrapped around the border of the top tile; Aquafleur is featured in the Bijou; Cadent is featured in the lower tile; and there is a couple of Springkles on the lower left of the page. I hope that helps if you'd like to find any step-outs to the tangles I've drawn. |
Some Travelling Tangles tiles...
Don't forget that you can join the fun over at the Travelling Tangles Project's Facebook page.
And here are two tiles completed by my mum, Joni Toh. Send her some love. :)
Featuring "Singapore Sling", one of my own patterns. You can find step-outs to it via this link. |
Let's begin with your beautiful Cadent, than a wonderful combination tile for two challenges,I love the way you have drawn Meer and made highlights to create contrasts.
ReplyDeleteInteresting traveling tiles

Hello dear Joyce,
DeleteMy apologies on not replying your email yet. Long email replies take time. :P
Thank you for your well wishes. I shall let my mum know that she did a great job. :D
That Cadent is gorgeous!!!! Happy belated birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!!
DeleteYour work is so beautiful Stephanie. I really love your combination challenge page from your sketch book. I'm struggling with overlapping and interweaving tangles but your work is so inspirational.
ReplyDeleteAwww~ What a sweet thing to say. Lightly plan where you'd like different tangles to go with a pencil. I know that doesn't really follow the Zentangle ideal, but my personal belief is to not make your life more difficult than it already is. Hahahaha. Extending a tangle beyond its border is also a really simple way of making it look cool. With overlapping tangles, just think of them as Hollibaugh. Your brain will tell you it is difficult, when really, it isn't at all! Also, if you're doing full sketchbook pages like I am, echo designs on a same page. For example, I repeated that black and white Striping that the Aquafleur had onto the tangles in the lower tile. This method helps tie the page together rather than having everything look very mish-mashed.
DeleteI hope that helps! :)
The tiles are so beautiful...all of them. I cant decide for a favourite...The first with cadent is perfect and the last is just lovely...
DeleteThat's a great help thanks Stephanie. I've had a go at it for this week's Joey challenge #128. I've linked to your blog page here so people can come and see how it's meant to be done ;) , I hope you don't mind. I find echoing designs, or using tangles that are related help to tie things together too. It can be helpful to use with the travelling tangles.
DeleteBeautiful work Stephanie Jennifer! I do love that Cadent bijoux. It's so beautifully shaded and composed. I forget what a dynamic pattern it is. Your Travelling Tangles are all wonderful and great work by Joni too;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Michele!
Deletethese are all so yummy! there is shine in every one of them, and I just love how the beadlines carry over part of the design in your colored tile. Great work!
ReplyDeletewhat is the squarish, leafy layered one, in with Singapore Sling?
ReplyDeleteIt's "Trique". :)
DeleteAnd thank you for your kind comment!
