thanks for the info... its a great start.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to leave a comment. :) I'm glad that the information was useful to you.
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like to find out the price of an item, or if you know the price to a certain item, hit me an e-mail at stephanie_jennifer@ymail.com
ReplyDeleteHello and thank you for all the info on this blog! I am new to Singapore and am looking for Arches Watercolour sheets of paper (not block), do you know where I can find this? Thank you! Laetitia
ReplyDeleteIf you happen to find a store that sells Achres or Stonehenge paper, I would love to know about it. hahaha
DeleteIt's insanely difficult to find artist quality paper in Singapore sold individually. I know Art Friend sells Fabriano, and Art Mark sells Bristol boards. Perhaps Derwent paper from Art Friend could be a substitute? Or do consider buying from Amazon.com or DickBlick.com
I'm glad you find the information on my blog useful. :)
When I went down to Straits Art, they had individual sheets there. Call them up to check for the prices. They have some variety. Very reasonably priced!
DeleteDidn't know Straits Art had individual sheets. ^-^ That's great to hear, though. The shop owners are very nice. I'll pay them a visit soon.
DeleteThanks for the heads up. I appreciate it.
Artfriend at Clementi sells Arches Watercolor/Oil paper now! :)
DeleteYes, Anon.
DeleteAll Art Friend branches now stock Arches paper. I'm currently still waiting for a full price list to come out and for stocks to be fully updated and put on their shelves before updating the price list.
Thanks for the heads up, though. :)
May I know where can I buy Krylon Workable Fixative?
ReplyDeleteI actually made a short product review of a Krylon UV Archival fixative here (you need to do some scrolling): http://www.everythingis-art.com/2013/11/art-product-reviews-1.html
DeleteHowever, the Buona Vista branch of Art Friend has already relocated to Clementi. It officially opens on the 17th of January 2014. Art Friend has a variety of different types of fixatives so you might call the branch that you're going to to inquire about their stock before going down. Do Google "location of Art Friend Singapore" to see which Art Friend branch is closest to you, and for each branch's contact number.
Hope this helps~
thank you very much
DeleteHi there. I just wanted to let people know that if you're looking for Col-Erase, Overjoyed sells them at about $21 but they're $35 at ArtMark
ReplyDeleteHello do you know what's the price of a canvas for oil painting? About medium sized ones..
ReplyDeleteThe prices really vary with sizes. So I recommend giving the nearest Art Friend branch to enquire.
Deletewow about calligraphy items. I'll be visiting Singapore this May, and I'm planning to buy Calligraphy stuffs, nibs, nib holder, inks, papers. Hope you could help. Thanks. you could reach me at my twitter account @ruthieconomist
ReplyDeleteI've seen some calligraphy pens and books at Art Friend before. But I won't claim to know the least bit about calligraphy. Try the Bras Basah branch. :)
DeleteHope your trip turns out well!
Hi! Do you know where I could get Marie gouache paints in Singapore? I'm looking for it and I've heard from seniors that Art friend does not offer it. I'm urgently needing a few sets :x Thanks in advance for replying!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Popular sells some. I'm not sure about the quality of Marie's gouache paints though.... Art Friend certainly *does* sell gouache paints; I would think they're of Derwent brand but I'm not too sure.... Give them a call.
DeleteOr online stores like DickBlick.com or Amazon.com.. But since it's urgent, you might not want to wait for the shipping time.
Try Straits Art Co.!
How much does the Copic Multiliner pens cost ? Individually and in sets ?
ReplyDeleteIt's written there. About $6 for one pen.
ReplyDeleteGive Art Friend a call to ask them. I'm pretty sure they stock them.
Hey Stephanie! Thanks for the informative post!:)
ReplyDeleteDo you know which art supply shops sell watercolour pan? And what's the price range. Thanks!:)
If my memory does not fail me, I would say that Straits Art Co sells watercolour pans. Their contact details is listed in this post: http://www.everythingis-art.com/2012/07/art-stores-in-singapore.html?m=1
ReplyDelete(I'm on mobile so if the link leads to nowhere, just google "art stores in Singapore". My website should be the first link listed and you'd be able to find the details just the same.)
Otherwise, it'd be online stores like DickBlick.com or amazon and eBay.
Hi, may I know the pricing for the Bristol Boards?
ReplyDeleteI can't exactly remember how much the Bristol Boards cost, but I bought them at art mark, and it probably cost under $5 for a large sheet.
Deletehi where i can buy the canvas? thanx fr this list
ReplyDeletePlease read the entire post properly.... It's stated at the start of the post: "Unless otherwise stated, all prices are from Art Friend".
DeleteThank you for leaving a comment.
Hi Jennifer! Have you seen this kind of eraser pencil? 【Faber-Castell Perfection 7057 Double ended Eraser】My friend gave me one and it works perfectly with colour pencils. I went to the Art Friend as Bras Basah, but I didn't find one o(︶︿︶)o.
ReplyDeleteThe name's Stephanie, btw. Jennifer is my middle name.
DeleteHello, dear anon. :) I have never seen that product before. Perhaps you should consider asking your friend where s/he bought it form?
It's always better to call the stores to ask them whether they have a particular thing instead of spending the time travelling to them. :) Try the other stores listed above!
Amazon UK sells it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faber-Castell-Perfection-Eraser-Double-Ended/dp/B000MQL0BU
Hope that helps~
Aww sorry.. Thanks for your reply, my friend bought it online. Guess I can only find it online then since even you don't know about it haha~
DeleteDo they sell black dye?
ReplyDeleteCan't remember if Art Friend sells dyes.... I think I saw some dyes at the Clementi branch, though. So I think it's highly possible that Bras Basah sells them too.
DeleteGive them a call to check with them: http://www.artfriend.com.sg/locates.html
Hello, would like to know what brushes do you normally use for watercolour and their price range?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a professional watercolour artist. I usually use watercolours for background washes (a flat brush works for that), or to quickly colour in sketches or little illustrations (I use a brush that has a built-in water barrel for that).
DeleteThe price range of brushes depends on what kind of brushes you're looking for- synthetic (which are cheaper) to high-end sable brushes (I wouldn't recommend a newbie to buy those cause it's far too much initial investment and you would end up being afraid of using them anyhows). Price also depends on what sizes you're getting; and the size of the brushes you're getting depends on the size of the paper you want to work on.
I recommend you thoroughly read the following Watercolour FAQ as it should answer most of your questions: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450810
And then, following that, you should probably make a trip down to an art store to see what kind of brushes you'd like and compare the prices. I really can't list out the prices for every single brush type, so you'd have to do your own research. Doesn't take much to give them a call!
Hope that helps. Cheers. :)
Wow that page is very detailed. Thank you (: I have been down to Artfriend at Takashimaya (which recently closed down) but the brush selection isn't huge. Maybe I should try Bras Basah (:
DeleteYou're welcome~ Brash Basah definitely has more product selections. :)
DeleteHello! I stay in Bukit Timah in Singapore. I am currently making homemade squishys. I only have acrylic paint but if I use acrylic paint on the make-up sponges, the paint will crack. Do you know where I can get fabric paint. (Etc. Scribbles, Tulip brands?)
ReplyDeleteArt Friend. Unfortunately, there are no art shops located in the North-West of Singapore.
Deletehttp://www.artfriend.com.sg/locates.html
Hope that helps. :)
Hi! Are those prices in US or SG dollars? Thank you! :D
ReplyDeleteI live in Singapore, so naturally I'll follow the SGD currency and the metric system. You're welcome! :)
DeleteHi Stephanie
ReplyDeleteDo you know where to get Holbein watercolors here in Singapore? I can only find online but since I need it urgently the shipping time is a bit of a problem. Thanks in advance.
I believe Straits Art Co. is the sole distributor of Holbein. Maybe I'm mistaken. Give them a ring to ask them before you drop by to check first. Call 6338 1710
Deleteare these prices up to date? :3
ReplyDeleteThe last I checked was in November. There shouldn't be a huge price difference in just a couple of months, but I won't say EVERY SINGLE item on the list is EXACTLY the price that I've stated they are.
DeleteThis list is more of a price guide than a catalogue. I gain nothing from keeping the list up-to-date and use my own free time to update/add new things to the list. It's really just me wanting to help others.
I hope it'd help you in some ways, though. And if you find an item whose prices have really dropped/increased, just let me know in the comments section, or via email. Thankies~ ^-^
Hello! Do you know where I can get fabric spray paint? Would be a lot easier to spray rather than use a sponge and dab. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello~
DeleteYou can get fabric spray paints from Art Friend.
http://www.artfriend.com.sg/locates.html
You're welcome~
Hi Stephanie! thanks for the info! i'm new with watercolour painting, and i am looking for student grade paints. daler rowney aquafine tubes are way cheaper than W&N, but are they any good?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Tanya
Hi Tanya!
DeleteI'm not a watercolour artist so I don't really use proper watercolours. I prefer watercolour pencils as they give me more control over where the colours go, and I use them mainly to add colour to sketches in my sketchbook. Thus, I'm not the best person to ask for a comparison. However, luckily for us both, there are artists who use watercolour as their primary medium, and they know much much more about the medium than I do.
Here's a link to the top 20 frequently asked questions about watercolour:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450810
That being said, I've read that one tube of watercolour paint will last for a very long time and are very worth the money in the long run. Most professional artist will recommend buying a few tubes of artist grade watercolours instead of a full boxed set of student grade colours. The colours of artist grade paints are more vivid; they're more lightfast (will last longer); and you'll enjoy using them much more compared to student grade.
If budget doesn't allow it, though (and also considering the fact that you're new to the medium and might end up not liking it after you've tried it) you could buy a set of artist grade watercolours first to try the medium. And then if you take a liking to watercolours, you can slowly swap out the student colours for artist ones. :)
Here's an interesting link to know which colours you should get for a basic starting set:
http://www.parkablogs.com/content/colours-pick-12-pan-watercolour-palette
Hope that helps~
Aside;
DeleteThe Wetcanvas site seems down right now. They're probably doing some maintenance... The link should work once the site gets back up (which should be soon). But if the link is still dead in one or two days, let me know and I'll find a new link to work around the issue.
:) All the best!
Thank you for the reply! i got addtl info from wetcanvas on how to start with my new project. i might start with 3 basic daniel smith tubes or van gogh, and arches or fabriano paper from art friend. for brushes, i will be resuing my old ones. :)
DeleteHey stephanie... great post and a great blog... just thought maybe you could include the water soluble oil paints also in the post. I believe they are available at art friend.
ReplyDeleteHi there.
DeleteI'll keep that in mind and will update this post the next time I drop by art friend. :)
Thanks for leaving a comment! :)
Here's an update:
DeleteWinsor & Newton water mixable oil tubes:
Series 1- $8.56
Series 2- $12.44
:)
Hi stephanie, the post is very informative. I would like to ask if there's any art shop that might sell faber castell albrecht dürer water color pencils? I've looked through reviews & I really like the shades when water is added. But most shops sell faber castell water color pencils the parrot ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found the post useful.
DeleteArt Friend! But I'm only sure the Plaza Singapura branch stocks them. If you're visiting other branches, do call them to ask if they have them,
They put them in the glass shelves so you'll have to ask a staff to open the shelf for you to be able to touch/take the product.
They're on the pricier side, though. So please don't be shocked when you see the price of it.
Let me know how it goes and whether you ended up purchasing them or another brand. :)
P.S. I bought the set of 12 Polychromos, which is the non-watercolour version of Faber Castell's coloured pencil range... And I loved them. Supposedly, the added cost comes from making sure every single pencil is lightfast. So, you'll have to make your own choice of whether it's worth the money.
DeleteThere are alternatives out there. For example, Derwent has watercolour pencils too. (Art Friend stocks those as well.) I'll update the price list with Faber Castell's pencils when I get the chance to.
Hey there! Thanks, this has been really helpful :)) but may I ask, do you know whether Art Friend sells turpentine??
ReplyDeleteHello Anon,
DeleteI'm glad that you found the post helpful.
Turpentine should be relatively easy to find. Please do call the Art Friend branch that you're visiting to check. And if you're feeling a little more hardworking, you can try calling a few of the other stores listed to see who sells the cheapest turpentine. :)
Hi Stephanie! This is a great post and extremely helpful, especially because I had such a hard time looking for prices of art materials in Singapore and your post is one of the few that popped up. I'm visiting Singapore next week.
ReplyDeleteWould you know where to find water-resistant drawing inks? Like the ones that Winsor&Newton has? http://www.winsornewton.com/row/shop/inks-and-drawing/drawing-inks
Thank you!
Hi Lorra,
DeleteI'm so SO sorry that I missed your question and that I just noticed it....
You're probably back in your home country now. Just for the record; Art Friend sells a large variety of inks. I hope you enjoyed your visit to Singapore.
And to anyone else that might happen to read this reply; if you have a time-sensitive question, do send me an e-mail instead. I can be reached at stephanie_jennifer@ymail.com
Again, Lorra, I'm sorry for having missed your question. ><
Kind Regards,
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this informative post! Any chance you'd know where to get Daler Rowney Layout Pads (45gsm) in Singapore? Didn't see them at Art Friend or Kinokuniya.
Thanks!
Hello Hazel!
DeleteDaler Rowney's Layout Pard are definitely available at Art Friend. They come in A3 sizes (that I know of), and have a black cover. Perhaps you missed it when you visited the branch? Or that they were out of stock when you visited? In any case, give the branch a call before you visit to ask for stock availability. And if they really don't have stock (which I highly doubt will happen) check back here with me and I'll see whether I can find more info on the matter. :)
You're welcome~
Hi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea where can I buy Zig clean colour real brush in Singapore? How much is it?
Is it sold individually or in a box of 12/24/36? Thanks!
Zig Clean Colour is listed in the post above. It's about $2 per pen. I'm not sure if they sell it in boxed sets.
DeletePlease contact the Art Friend branch to enquire.
Do you have any idea how much is the zig kurecolor in art friend?
ReplyDeleteThere are many different types of Kurecolor markers. Please contact an art shop directly to check with them. I do know that Art Friend sells them between $2-$10, though.
DeleteDoes Art Friend sells Rotring Rapidograph pens?
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether they do.
DeleteI know that they sell the "graphic" sorts, though. You should give them a call to ask. http://www.artfriend.com.sg/locates.html
If Art Friend doesn't stock them, you could try asking Straits Art Co.
Do you know where can i get krylon matte finish 1311 and how much it costs? Thank you!
ReplyDeletePretty sure you can get it from Art Friend. They sell a very large variety of Krylon sprays.
DeleteI don't know the exact price but it should cost around $20. Do call your nearest Art Friend branch to confirm. :)
Wow ok thanks alot!
DeleteThanks for sharing this information!
ReplyDeleteJust want to know, where can I get the Winsor and Newton Watercolor Pans? It is not mentioned in the list.
And where can I get the Copic fine liner in different colours? So far I can only find the black ones at Art Friend in Plaza Singapura.
Once again, thanks a bunch! :D
Hi there,
DeleteArt Friend brought in some W&N pan sets a while ago. I've seen them at the Plaza Sing. branch. However, the selection seems quite limited. I bought my set of W&N Cotman half pans from Amazon.com.
I've never seen Copic fine liners in colours before, so I can't really help you on that. Popular sells coloured varieties of Microns, so perhaps you'd like to look into that?
You're welcome~ And hope I helped. ^-^
May I know where I can get Stillman & Birn's Sketchbook? Or do you have any recommendations for watercolor sketch books?
ReplyDeleteI love your blog btw! ^^ It is really helpful!
A quick google search let me know that Arters sells them:
Deletehttp://arters.com.sg/store/38-stillman-birn
Also, mayyybe Straits Art Co. too. They had plans on bringing them into Singapore, but I do not know for certain whether they have current available stocks.
Frankly, for a sketchbook, I think one of the most important factor is availability... So I'd recommend you dropping by an art shop near you (Art Friend, perhaps?) They would have plenty of options to choose from.
Thank you for your kind words too~ I really appreciate it. ^-^
Hello there! I just stumbled upon this blog and it is really convenient for me to check in for art supplies now, thank you!
ReplyDeleteDo you know here to get Deleter Pens / Maru Pens / G-pens? I have been wanting to get one of those for a while now and I do not really want to order online, it would be great if you know any outlets that sell those! (=´∀`)
Hi there~
DeleteI am not familiar with manga/comic art materials, so I have never heard of those brands before. You might, however, want to do your own scouting at Art Mark, Straits Art Co, and/or Art Friend.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
But thank you for your kind words. :)
Hello! This is such an informative post. Would you know where I can find the Sakura Koi watercolor field box sets in Singapore? I will be visiting this weekend for a vacation and would love to buy a set. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI don't know any place that sells Sakura Koi. However, I know Art Friend sells Winsor & Newton watercolours, and I recall many small and portable sets on display at the Dhoby Ghaut branch.
DeleteYou might want to try Straits Art Co. or perhaps Art Mark. They're all located in the Bugis area.
I hope you have a great time in Singapore over the weekend. :)
Let me know if you need more help.

ReplyDeleteI have no idea where to buy Sakura Koi watercolours, unfortunately. However, I know Art Friend sells Winsor & Newton watercolours. You might want to try Straits Art Co. or perhaps Art Mark. They're all located in the Bugis area.

ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome. I'm glad I could help. :)
Deletehi stephanie ,
ReplyDeletethanks for the list, very helpful.
just want to ask whether they sell prismacolor pencil separately?
and how much it cost ?
thanks.
Hi there,
DeleteI do not know the exact prices of one Prismacolor pencil. However, in sets, the prices are as follows:
Prismacolor set of:
12- $32 (at Art Mark)
132- $324 (at Straits Art. Co)
150- $365 (at Art Mark)
So I would say it's SGD2 plus per pencil. Both Art Mark and Straits Art Co sell Prismas in open stock. Hope that helps.
-Stephanie
okie thanks for helping ^^
DeleteYou're welcome~ ^-^
DeleteDo you where to buy holbein watercolor individually?
ReplyDeleteStraits Art Co is the sole distributor of Holbein. Do give them a call to check whether they sell watercolours individually. :)
DeleteDo you know how much the paint cost? The tube and the pans?
DeleteThanks
I can't be calling to ask how much each individual item costs. Here's their number: 6338 1710
DeleteI'm sure you're competent enough to ask for yourself.
You're welcome.
Do you know any art store where I can get the Pentel Aquash brushes? Thank You.
ReplyDeleteI believe Art Friend sells them. I'm 100% sure that they sell Derwent water brushes. :)
DeleteHi I want to start lettering and I heard ZIG brushables are good for that. Do you know if popular sells them? Or just Artfriend?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Different Popular stock different items. So it'd really depend.
DeleteFrom my memory, I do remember that they sell Zig Clean Colour pens. But I can't recall ever seeing a Brushable. It could be because I wasn't looking properly for it, though. Art Friend definitely sells them- in many colours! :)
Hi Stephanie, great post! I wanted to know if Easy Cast Resin is available in a gallon or litre in artfriend or anywhere actually!
ReplyDeleteYou might try Straits Art Co. I know Art Friend sells Easy Cast, but I'm not sure whether they sell it in such a large quantity.
DeleteHello!I want to enquire where to get Holbein watercolors? I've visited some art stores and are unable to find them, thanks!
