"Odd one out"

A new coloured pencil piece I finished.
I seem to really like apples... I might decide to edit it a little more before spraying fixative on it. But for now, I'm giving it a couple of days cause when you stare at a drawing for too long, you start to not be able to see the faults in it.

What have you been up to lately, creativity-wise? :) Leave me a comment/link to your blog in the comment section below telling me about it.

I was a child prodigy.

My mum was sorting through some of her documents and she found this:
She told me that I drew this masterpiece when I was 3 years old without the help of any adults. So... Essentially, I was a child prodigy. I mean, look at it. It's so compositionally balanced, and I even knew to use complementary colours with an accent of green. I'm actually pretty proud of my three-year old self for creating it. :)

It got me thinking about what kind of art other artists did when they were kiddos.

Painting of the Day: "Storm"

"Storm" by Nicholas Jolly

I love the movement in this piece. And I also like the fact that it speaks to me.

I'm going through a time in my life now whereby I'm unsure about everything. My beliefs, my opinions, my thoughts are all ever-changing. I'm trying to find a direction in my life and my art. It's like a storm of sorts. You just have to keep trudging on, moving forward, and hope for the best. The rain will eventually stop and there will be sunshine. Just keep going and believe that all things will work out in the end.

    Recommended Artist: Pez

Pez is an illustrator, a painter and a graphic designer who hails from Nantes, France. His sketchbooks are filled with an astounding amount of details and are a pleasure to look at. I also really enjoy the way he presents his work. I thought the bubbles and the pencil shavings were a really nice addition. And his typography works are awesome.

Painting of the Day: by Takato Yamamoto

I absolutely love the details in this piece, and the muted palette really emphasises the importance of the line work.
